Every Friday Jean’s farm hosts a work party for community and CVC folks to come out and spend some time in the soil and enjoy the quiet of the forest.
I worked to repot herbs to send to Kenton Women’s Village, a houseless community, for their garden projects.
From one mother chive plant we replanted over 50 baby chives to give away and still had much of the plant to put back in the ground for it to regenerate itself.
We trimmed the chive leaves off to make transplanting easier for us, and also to help signal the plant to work on growing roots instead of leaves.
We used the chive clippings and made a large batch of kimchi. It was so nice to be back on the land and use their newly renovated outdoor kitchen! I hadn’t been there since I was in 7th grade.
