Graduation Day for Place-Making Sites!

This past Thursday we had our final official place-making meeting and graduation celebration for the place-making sites. We had a potluck and a little ceremony of gratitude for the work everyone has put into the program and the projects they have committed to making a reality. To show our appreciation we made wildflower seed packets and Ridhi taught Anthony and I how to make salve. We picked calendula and I harvested bay leaves and I used them to decorate the tables. The graduation is notoriously sparsely attended. This was not an exception. It made me wonder how to facilitate community more deeply within the program and get people to want to show up! It felt nice to help make the space nice and offer gifts, as it is so embedded within City Repair’s technique of relation building.
